What is inclusive business all about?

Inclusive business models are sustainable business solutions that expand access to goods, services and livelihood opportunities for low-income communities.

This involves doing business with low-income populations anywhere within a company's value chain, incorporating them in the supply, production, distribution and or marketing of goods and services.

This creates new jobs, incomes, technical skills and local capacity. By focusing on commercial viability, these models have demonstrated inherent capacity to be scaled to engage thousands, and increasingly millions of poor people. The emphasis is on “core business” rather than philanthropy.
